Lithograph enhanced with gouache on Vélin d’Arches paper from the Miserere series by Georges Rouault. A powerful composition characteristic of Rouault’s expressionist style, depicting two faces rendered in stark contrast of black, grey, and white. Framed in a wide, weathered wooden frame with a deep-set mount, wire on the backside.

Includes Jeanne Bucher's watermark 'J.B.' in the lower left margin. The verso bears the Peridot Gallery New York stamp, the postwar gallery known for exhibiting artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Ruth Asawa.
